The Department of War announced it is investing $32.7 million through the Defense Production Act Title III program to strengthen the domestic solid rocket motor industrial base. The funding, originally committed on September 30, 2025, was announced in late December after a delay caused by a government shutdown.
Two companies will receive the Title III investments: Systima Technologies Inc. in Mukilteo, Washington, and R.E. Darling Co., Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. The aim of these investments is to modernize production capabilities and expand supply chain resilience for solid rocket motor components. :
Systima Technologies will use its funding to expand nozzle production lines and develop optimized production cells for complex rocket motor nozzles. R.E. Darling Co. will use its investment to establish enhanced manufacturing capacity for internal insulation materials, which are essential for thermal protection within solid rocket motors.
Program: Defense Production Act Title III
Focus: Solid rocket motor nozzle and insulation production
Locations: Washington and Arizona
